For over a year, Qatar Airways has been pushing Boeing to manufacture B777X freighters. Looking forward to shake things up in their fleet, the airline is aiming to buy 50 freighters from the plane-maker in a deal that is potentially valued around $14 Billion. The relations between Qatar and Airbus turned sour recently as the former issued legal proceedings against the latter over the Doha-hubbed airline’s A350 fleet due to which Airbus cancelled the order placed by Qatar Airways for 50 new A321s. Boeing will play a crucial role in Qatar Airway’s fleet renewal programme as earlier the airline was interested in buying 30 freighters. However, as of today, that number has gone up to 50.
