HONG KONG’S STATE RESTRICTIONS

After Cathay Pacific postponed their flight to and from Hong Kong on Monday due to stricter quarantine rules, the country further decides to ban the entry of people from 8 nations for 14 days. These countries are Australia, the UK, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and the US. It is difficult to speak about the impact it will leave on the bellyhold operations as of now. Out of 114 Omicron cases registered in Hong Kong on Tuesday the 4th, most of them were discovered in the airport region and in the quarantine hotels. Although Cathay Pacific’s seven day pause comes to an end on 7th January, it will be interesting to see how it plays out for the airlines.
