The new year brings new challenges for air cargo industry. Cathay Pacific fell pray to the latest strain - Omicron, as a result of which the airline has postponed flights till 6th of January to and from Hong Kong. This measure was taken to comply with newer more stricter quarantine measures. The airline plans to consolidate cargo flight schedule for the first quarter of 2022 with reductions to long-haul freighter and cargo-only passenger flight capacity. Hong Kong is among one of the fewer cities in Asia who still adopts the “Zero Covid” strategy that forces every traveller to quarantine for at least 3 weeks. Cathay has suspend long haul cargo flights into the city for a week, & would be working with customers to mitigate the disruption as much as possible.
