Despite of restricted belly capacity, Frankfurt airport handled 2.3m metric tons of cargo in 2021. To put things in perspective, this was a record breaking jump for Europe’s biggest hub by almost 18.7% compared to 2020 figures. The passenger traffic seemed promising during the period from April 2021 to December 2021, however, still strives for a reliable comeback when compared to pre pandemic levels. On the flip-side, cargo levels in December 2021 recorded the highest monthly volume since 2007 with 197,100 metric tons.
